Safe Vacation Tips for Travel during Covid-19

How to Have a Safe Vacation on St. John and Tips for your Villa Vacation

We are happy to welcome guests on June 1st, 2020! At this time, we would like to give you some advice on how to have a safe vacation here on St. John.

Our beaches and hiking trails are open. The grocery stores are currently open, but closing a few hours earlier. Starfish is open until 8pm. Dolphin Market and St. John Market and Pine Peace Market are open until 9pm. First Bank in the Marketplace is open until 1pm. Smaller convenience stores are open later. Hours may change so ask when you are visiting. There are charter and fishing boat trips available but there are still restrictions on traveling to the BVI, so the trips are in US waters only. There are multiple restaurants and bars are open, and able to serve at half capacity, they are taking precautions by wearing masks and limiting menu exchange. There are also retail shops open in Mongoose Junction and a few in Cruz Bay and Coral Bay. Some places of business are open limited hours so check and call your favorites to see their status. With this being said, below we give some examples on how you can also keep our community safe and you safe as well!

  • When traveling take caution and travel with your own PPE, hand sanitizer and wipes. While traveling, wash your hands and wear a mask. It is important to us that you arrive safe and that we are safe when you start to vacation here. There is no hospital on St. John. We have a community health clinic. There is a hospital on St. Thomas. The Dept. of Health will provide you with info should you become sick and in their care. There is only limited resources for COVID-19 cases in our community so ask yourself important questions about risk and traveling before booking your trip and make sure the whole group is on board with the same information.

  • Even if it may complicate things in your life, if you feel ill with a fever over 100.4 degrees, please cancel your trip. This goes for anyone in your party. We can reschedule you, our policy is that you can reschedule up to a year after your original dates. We give you six months to decide. Your villa booking is secured with us.

  • When you arrive, please wear your mask and practice social distancing and again wash your hands when you can. We suggest renting a car on St. Thomas at this time, so that you can drive your car from the airport to the barge dock in Redhook. This limits interaction with public in closed spaces. When you arrive we will still be meeting you and doing a check in and walk through with you at the villa, unless you are a repeat guest. You will sign a few waivers at your rental villa. We also suggest hiring provisioning service before your trip to limit your time in grocery store while here. Please call 404-454-6634 or email us at info@stjohnultimatevillas.com for our in-house provisioning service. You can also hire a private chef or food delivery from restaurants or caterers while here. We have plenty of good suggestions. Be sure to ask us about this!

  • While vacationing here, please continue to practice safe hygiene, handwashing, and wear a mask in public establishments.

  • If you develop a fever, or other symptoms, please do not hesitate to call the Dept. of Health’s hotline at 340-776-1519. Also call us to make sure we know of your situation 340-513-3864.

  • To receive updates, alerts and notifications on the Coronavirus in the USVI, TEXT “COVID19USVI” to 888777.

Enjoy your vacation to the beautiful Virgin Islands. Please stay safe and know we are here to help create the best experience possible!
