Honeymoon Beach is one of 7 beaches located within the currently closed Caneel Bay Resort. It’s the only beach you can get access to on the property. It is one of the most pristine, white sandy beaches on the North shore and there are still reef areas to snorkel around. There are a few ways to get to Honeymoon. If you are a hiker, or can even manage a short hike, you can access this trail from the National Park Visitor’s Center. You walk up the wooden steps from the parking lot and then follow the trail signs. It is about a 20 minute hike and you have to walk a bit further uphill then down, past Salomon Bay.
Stopping by at the Visitor’s Center is always a great idea, as you can find maps, learn about St. John’s history and find out more about the Park. You can also get supplies such as reef safe sunscreen or cute gifts for family and friends. Supporting our National Park is one of the best things you can do for our island.
Another way to get to Honeymoon is to park at Caneel Bay, located on North Shore road. There are attendants at the entrance that will help direct you. You then take a $5.00 shuttle to the beach. You can also hike one way there and take a shuttle back to the entrance and have a taxi pick you up. Or, if some of the party can’t do the hike you can meet this way. There are chairs, food, drinks and a bathroom there, operated by VI EcoTours. They also provide a day pass that will cover your full day of beach equipment rentals and lounge chairs. https://viecotours.com/trip-details/honeymoon-beach-all-inclusive-day-pass#entry:462:url.
Either way you visit honeymoon you will find it is fabulous and fun for the whole family. We hope you enjoy it and thank you for keeping our beaches clean!
